Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) program that meets the needs of our organization and ensures a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement OH&S policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct workplace risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate hazards and prevent injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide training and education to employees on OH&S policies and procedures, and ensure that all employees understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and injuries, and develop recommendations to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to identify and address OH&S concerns and issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and industry partners.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized program, plus five years recent related experience in a unionized environment and registration as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification that is acceptable to Fraser Health.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License and use of a personal vehicle.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop recommendations to improve OH&S performance.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
