Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a quality control professional to lead the Quality Assurance Team at Wonderbrands. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in a food manufacturing setting, a post-secondary education in a food safety/quality related program, and strong oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Act as a backup for the BQM (Bakery Quality Manager) as required
  • Perform shelf life evaluations and report on products per established procedures with review
  • Conduct daily GMP walkthroughs and report any findings; investigate RCA and implement CAPA after reviewing with the BQM
  • Support the development of Food Safety and Quality training, conduct training on food safety and quality requirements for all employees, and manage product specification verification and documentation
  • Examine incoming raw materials, processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards; verify packaging operations to ensure correct packaging, labeling, production codes, and best before marking and carton labeling
  • Conduct sampling of the plant environment and equipment, water, raw materials, and finished products for microbiological and/or analytical testing/sensory evaluation; support trials/first production approval runs in compliance
  • Hold product or ingredient control and dispositions; assist with the maintenance of all HACCP programs
  • Document review and preparation for approval based on corporate procedure; accountable for the update and integration, documentation, and maintenance of plant procedures and SOPs
  • Support mock recalls and traceability exercises; perform traceability through SAP and complete mass balance using data analysis software to track bottom-up and top-down trace within the given time
  • Provide trace information in report format to the BQM
  • Participate and support internal/third-party/CFIA and/or FDA audits
  • Identify, report non-conformance for any out-of-compliance situation or food safety incidents; support BQM with RCA and CAPA implementation for ingredients/packaging and finished products
  • Complete inspections for glass and brittle plastics, pest control, and overall plant food safety with review and updates/follow-ups
  • Support BQM with RFT data measurements and consumer complaint investigations
  • Report and log analytical test results for each line and ensure compliance to WB and/or customer specifications
  • Complete shift reports and audit sheets as required; perform certificate of analysis reviews and data entry and filing
  • Issue non-conformance reporting for incoming ingredient or packaging deviations
  • Review Tracegain, Kosher, and pest control portal data and prepare data for monthly reviews
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a quality control food manufacturing setting
  • A post-secondary education in a food safety/quality related program
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • The ability to partner with all levels of production from operators to supervisors
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime where required
