About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Holletts Retirement Living Inc. As a key member of our food service team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety in our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to maintain a high level of hygiene and food safety.
  • Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
  • Dishwashing: Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware, and sanitize dishes and other items by hand.
  • General Kitchen Duties: Clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs, and remove kitchen garbage and trash.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance of kitchen equipment, including sharpening kitchen knives and cleaning appliances.
  • Housekeeping: Clean and sanitize the kitchen, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, and floors.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: Experience is an asset.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, handle heavy loads, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Qualities: Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, reliability, team player, ability to multitask, initiative, and dependability.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Work Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week.
  • Language: English.
