Mechanical Designer

Smith + Andersen, a leading Canadian engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our team in Kelowna, BC. As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality building services design projects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Design building systems in accordance with municipal and provincial building codes, as well as other applicable standards.
- Collaborate with structural, architectural, and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Develop layouts and designs for mechanical building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, fire protection systems, plumbing, and drainage.
- Prepare calculations to size ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, plumbing, and drainage, and incorporate them into technical drawings.
- Work with clash/coordination reports, model audits, and overall model health.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers for design support, equipment, and component selection.
- Assist with construction administration, including reviewing equipment shop drawings and conducting site visits.
- Minimum four years of direct industry experience in mechanical building services.
- Diploma or degree from an electrical building services or engineering program.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo software.
- Knowledge of the British Columbia Building Code, Plumbing Code, and Energy Step Code.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients.
