Network Analyst I

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Network Analyst I to join its Information Systems and Technology team. As a key member of the Network Infrastructure Services unit, this role will be responsible for providing second-level technical support for UBC's network infrastructure and systems.
Key Responsibilities- Consult with users to determine technical support requirements for network systems, including monitoring network activity and troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems.
- Monitor facilities capacity requirements, schedule requests for bandwidth, and adjust bandwidth on a daily or weekly basis.
- Assess network performance to ensure it meets present and future needs of the enterprise.
- Assist in the development of disaster recovery plans and execute network test plans.
- Implement network security procedures and predetermined software or hardware changes to rectify any security issues.
To be successful in this role, you will require a strong understanding of routing and switching, network security, and network monitoring and management systems. You will also need excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred QualificationsAn undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Computer Science or Engineering, is preferred. Additionally, relevant experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN, large campus networks, network operations, network security, and network management is highly desirable.
