About the Role

Compensation and Benefits

The starting annual salary for this role is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay. The salary is based on a five-step scale with annual increases. Job Description

As a Program Assistant Specialist, you will work closely with teachers, staff, and students to provide support services that enhance their educational experience. Your responsibilities may include assisting with daily routines, providing behavioral support, and implementing individualized plans. You will also have opportunities to develop your skills in areas such as crisis intervention, communication, and problem-solving.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement, is considered an asset.
  • You must possess valid First Aid/CPR Certification and be willing to complete additional training as needed.
  • Light lifting (up to 20 pounds) and medium lifting (up to 50 pounds) are requirements of this role.
  • You should have experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities, particularly those with Down's Syndrome and Autism.
Work Schedule and Rate of Pay

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule aligned with the school year calendar. You will be paid every two weeks, with the annual salary pro-rated over the length of the term. The rate of pay for this position starts at $35,817.70 per year, including 4% vacation pay.

Daily Hours of Work

Your daily hours of work will vary depending on your assigned position: 50% Position = 3.5 hours, 80% Position = 6.1 hours, and 100% Position = 7.5 hours. Each position includes breaks and time for meal preparation.
