About Black & McDonald's Accounting & Finance Team

We are a dynamic and growing team seeking a skilled Payroll Administrator to join our ranks. Located in Markham, Ontario, with the possibility of working from home, this role reports directly to the Payroll Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing hourly unionized payroll under the direction of the Payroll Manager. Key tasks include:

  • Interpreting and updating wage schedules, burden tables, and monthly union reconciliation;
  • Accurate and timely end-to-end processing of payrolls and payments via direct deposit, including new employee setup, handling terminations with ROEs using HRDC WebROE;
  • Responding to payroll inquiries from internal and external stakeholders;
  • Maintaining records for provincial items like WSIB/WCB, EHT, T4, RL1, and T2200.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Effective communication skills;
  • The ability to cope under pressure while maintaining focus;
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently under limited supervision;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy;
  • The ability to maximize business performance and team effectiveness.

Certifications and Experience

A PCP designation with NPI is required, along with at least 3 years of experience in payroll administration. Unionized construction experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) are considered assets.
