About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. in Peterborough, Ontario. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors, including automated and semi-automated fuelling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design and development meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to ensure design meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PEO) license or working towards it.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in the nuclear industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, FEA software, and other relevant tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the CANDU nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
  • Knowledge of machine design and manufacturing processes.
