About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join our team at BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. in Peterborough, Ontario. As a key member of our Fuel Handling mechanical engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complex mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors, including automated and semi-automated fuelling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling.
  • Provide technical support to CAD, Procurement, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Commissioning and Service personnel.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, including design reviews and technical presentations.
  • Lead by example, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, quality systems, policies, and contractual requirements.
  • Support process change through process enhancement and technology introduction to achieve world-class product development and deployment.
Requirements
  • B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Holds or working towards a current PEO license.
  • Typically requires 7 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  • Demonstrated ability to support leadership on complex and general engineering projects over their complete EPC life cycles.
  • Exposure to a broad range of interdisciplinary activities, including systems design, requirements development, interface design, manufacturing, and testing.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (preference for Inventor/Solidworks) and FEA software (ANSYS).
  • Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
