We regulate over 19,000 licensed LPNs, RNs, and NPs across Nova Scotia on behalf of the public, enabling Nova Scotians to place their full confidence in the nurses who care for them, their families, and their communities.

The Role

As our Chief Executive Officer and Registrar, you will be responsible for bringing strategic vision and regulatory expertise to a complex and dynamic context. You will lead a talented team, fostering collaboration and high performance, while ensuring effective governance of the nursing profession in collaboration with the Board.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Bring strategic vision and regulatory expertise to a complex and dynamic context.

  • Making high-profile decisions within a complex and publicly accountable environment.
  • Analyze the need for and facilitate the development of programs, services, legislation, or policies supporting nursing regulation.
  • Lead the organization's strategic and operational planning cycles through environmental scans of legislative and healthcare issues.
  • Champion a positive, inclusive workplace culture and advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB) within the organization.
  • Establish long-range financial, budgetary, and HR plans for the organization.
  • Actively participate in health sector and regulatory networks provincially, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key partners and collaborators.
  • Effectively communicate the strategic direction of the organization to the NSCN team and its partners.
  • Bring a deep commitment to the NSCN's mandate to protect the public in all that you do.

What We Offer

As our ideal candidate, you are an experienced health system leader with an in-depth understanding of the nursing profession and regulatory frameworks. An annual salary of $120,000-$150,000, commensurate with experience, is offered, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
