Director of Banquets

At Fairmont Château Laurier, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Banquets to join our team. As a key member of our Food and Beverage department, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of every group function and providing exceptional service to our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Banquet team, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of the department on a daily basis.
  • Develop and implement creative and cost-effective scheduling strategies to minimize productivity and maximize guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain open communication lines with Catering and Convention Services to promote teamwork and exceed guest service expectations.
  • Ensure all financial reporting is accurate and up-to-date, and that the department is meeting its financial goals.
  • Recruit, train, and develop new employees, and maintain a positive team environment.
  • Ensure all union guidelines are followed, and that the department is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management is an asset.
  • Minimum five years' experience in Food and Beverage Management, including a minimum of three years in a Banquet Manager or Assistant Banquet Manager setting.
  • Highly organized individual with the ability to multi-task and delegate tasks to team members.
  • Strong leadership qualities and management skills, with the ability to recognize and correct guest service issues.
  • Working knowledge of Micros, Timesaver, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
