Audio Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Audio Director to join our team at Ubisoft Montréal. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of audio content and its integration as a gameplay element.
Key Responsibilities- Establish Audio Vision: Develop and document the technical and artistic audio charter based on the creative direction, including reference films, games by competitors, and design documents.
- Communicate Audio Vision: Effectively communicate the audio vision to the team, providing all necessary visual and audio documents and references.
- Audio Engine Selection: Help select the project engine, ensuring that audio needs are considered by assessing existing engines, contributing to the design of the new engine (if applicable), and testing the final engine choice.
- Technical Audio Needs: Identify technical audio needs for the project and communicate them to the technical architect and Dare team.
- Musical Direction: Set out the musical direction and the process to select composers, in collaboration with the creative director and sound studio.
- Audio Element Integration: Design and implement audio element integration processes, working closely with programmers and technical directors to ensure proper integration.
- Project Resource Management: Determine project resource needs and set out the budget for the audio group with the producer/associate producer, following up on reassignments with the reassignment team.
- Team Supervision: Supervise the work of the audio team from the artistic and technical perspectives, providing individual feedback and/or organizing group audio reviews to ensure that the team's work meets quality standards and remains in line with the audio vision.
- Team Development: Coach team members to foster their artistic and technical development, ensuring they progress in their careers.
- Audio Community: Communicate and share knowledge and experiences with other directors (audio, sound studio, Dare team) to ensure the effectiveness of the audio community and its evolution within the group.
- Audio Recording Sessions: Coordinate specific audio recording sessions to meet project needs, in collaboration with the sound studio.
- Education: A degree in music or audio or professional training in audio.
- Experience: Experience in audio production for video games, with a minimum of three AAA games delivered as part of a production team.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, organization skills, ability to influence others, and a solid knowledge of DAW tools (e.g. Pro Tools, Sound Forge, MIDI).
- Additional Assets: Film or TV postproduction experience, computer science training, and knowledge of the audio engines available on the market.
