Job Summary:

Hundseth Power Line Construction (HPL) is seeking a skilled Apprentice Power Line Technician to join our team in Regina. As an Apprentice Power Line Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of assignments involved in the installation, construction, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution, transmission lines, switching stations, substations, communication networks, streetlight facilities, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, skid-steer loaders, HydroVac machines, directional bore machines, digger derrick trucks, all-terrain track machines, crawler dozers, bobcats, forklifts, and trackhoes.
  • Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report any violations immediately to the foreman.
  • Perform specialized testing and maintenance tasks on power lines, substations, and communication networks.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians to complete complex projects and tasks.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A valid Apprentice Power Line Technician Trade card from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license with a clear driving abstract and a 1A preference.
  • Previous experience operating backhoes, trenchers, skid-steer loaders, HydroVac machines, and trackhoes is considered an asset.
  • One or more years of experience in construction.
  • Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends as required.
  • Ability to lift heavy tools and equipment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • This position is considered a safety-sensitive position, and all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical evaluation that includes a hearing and drug and alcohol screening.
