The Government of Alberta's Forestry Division is seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive individual to fill the role of Indigenous Liaison Specialist.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain productive relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations, as well as stakeholders and representative organizations on behalf of the Division.
- Lead and/or support the development and implementation of policy, protocols, guidance, procedures, and best practices to build and maintain Divisional competencies and cultural awareness.
- Support Forestry's participation on cross-ministry groups addressing Indigenous issues relevant to forestry activities in the province.
The successful candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal skills to interact and communicate with various stakeholders, as well as partners with differing opinions and world views. The incumbent must have a high degree of cultural knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity, particularly with Indigenous communities and cultures across Alberta.
The ability to navigate and articulate, lead and facilitate conversations, analyze and apply learnings from Indigenous communities back to Division staff is an essential part of the role.
The role involves managing complex and politically sensitive consultation and engagement processes. The successful incumbent will be responsible for developing responses to both emerging and systemic issues effectively.
