**Job Title:** Senior Underwriter - Large Cases

**About the Role:** We are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team and contribute to the success of our Large Case program.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Deliver exceptional Large Case experiences through technical and relationship management skills
  • Recruit and develop a motivated team focused on technical and relationship skill development and critical thinking
  • Create and develop customized white glove experiences for large cases in individual insurance
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Pricing, and Operations to deliver a large case program with customized underwriting solutions
  • Build relationships with Advisors and Distribution partners to proactively manage client large case experiences
  • Regular presentations and consultations with Large Case advisors and MGA market
  • Nurture existing relationships with Reinsurance partners to deliver top-notch large case experiences
  • Lead the underwriting team, promoting a positive environment in the underwriting department
  • Accountable for performance management, salary adjustments, and communications for direct report underwriting team members
  • Provide timely, positive, and constructive feedback to team members and implement the annual Review and Scorecard process
  • Ensure quality results for all Individual clients and partners (advisors, policyholders, MGAs, distribution)
  • Maximize service, both in relationship building with external partners and ensuring the team adheres to time service expectations
  • Create and facilitate team goal setting, in conjunction with the VP of Underwriting
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships and collaboration with Distribution partners, including Wholesalers and RVPs
  • Manage pre-sale underwriting activities, such as preliminary opinions on complex insurance structures
  • Align Large Case practices with the underwriting risk philosophy of Equitable

**Requirements:**

  • 10+ years of professional underwriting experience, with exceptional technical and relationship management skills
  • College or University degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of individual products and underwriting policies, procedures, workflow, and admin systems
  • Proven skills in People Management and Development
  • Appreciation of the complexities of the Individual marketplace and competition
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent written, verbal, and product knowledge skills, with the ability to impart knowledge to others, work in a team environment
  • Proactive and service-oriented, results-focused with a sense of urgency
  • Understanding of clients and the importance of communication, protecting against the loss of advisors' confidence
  • Project work as required
  • Development and Performance reviews, FLMI/FALU designation or currently working towards
  • Consistent accountability of quality and quantity of work
