Director, Research Planning

Calian is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to drive advancements in research and development. As Director, Research Planning, you will lead a team of experts in software development, product management, and quality assurance to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the overall research and development strategy
  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily R&D operations to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into practical solutions
  • Promote a culture of teamwork and collaboration, sharing good practices with the team
  • Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resources for R&D projects
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in agricultural science and technology
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of proven experience in leading research and development projects
  • Strong leadership skills, technical and business knowledge
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery
  • Ability to effectively coach, influence, and convey the needs and strategic direction to all levels of stakeholders
  • A valid passport is required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of software development experience (desktop, mobile, and/or web applications)
  • Ability to translate product requirements into technical requirements
  • Experience with annual performance planning, goal setting, and year-end reviews
  • Experience with professional development strategy and implementation
  • Experience with user experience best practices
  • Experience with tools like the software development cycle, Google Cloud Platform, SQL, Jira, project management, HubSpot, C/C++, etc.
  • Experience in data science and/or business intelligence, especially experience with data warehousing
