Job Title: Director, Research & Development

Calian Agriculture is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Director, Research & Development to lead our R&D endeavors. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving advancements in the field of agriculture through the development of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement the overall research and development strategy for Calian Agriculture.
  2. Lead and manage a team of researchers and developers to ensure the successful delivery of R&D projects.
  3. Identify and evaluate emerging trends and technologies to drive innovation and improvement.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into practical solutions.
  5. Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resources for R&D projects.
  6. Establish and maintain partnerships with industry experts and other key stakeholders.
  7. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Requirements:
  1. 10+ years of proven experience in leading research and development projects.
  2. Strong leadership skills, technical and business knowledge.
  3. Strong customer service orientation and sensitive to the needs of a customer-facing environment.
  4. Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  5. Excellent project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
  6. Effective communication and leadership skills.
  7. Ability to think strategically, consider big picture impacts and understand how to implement solutions and drive advancements across teams.
  8. Proven ability to think outside the box with demonstrated creativity.
  9. Can meet deadlines and deal with pressure, particularly during harvesting season.
  10. Be able to effectively coach, influence and convey the needs and strategic direction to all levels of stakeholders in a way that will enable lasting change.
  11. Captivating presentation and facilitation skills that engage and inspire.
  12. A valid passport is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. 10+ years of software development experience (desktop, mobile and/or web applications).
  2. Ability to translate product requirements into technical requirements.
  3. Experience with annual performance planning, goal setting and year-end reviews.
  4. Experience with professional development strategy and implementation.
  5. Experience with solution design and architecture.
  6. Experience with user experience best practices.
