About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecommunication Systems Administrator to join our team at Communications Group Fort McMurray Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our telecommunications infrastructure to ensure seamless communication and connectivity across our sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Management: Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various telecommunication systems, access control, connectivity, and communication across our sites.
  • Infrastructure Installation: Install and terminate wireless computing networks, cabling, connections, switches, and routers to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
  • System Monitoring: Utilize SolarWinds system, HP and HPE Aruba Networks to monitor alerts and trigger alarms, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
  • CCTV System Management: Configure and maintain CCTV systems, including networking of cameras, to ensure optimal surveillance and security.
  • Access Control Management: Configure, address, and mitigate access control settings, malicious activity, and intrusion detection features within the ProWatch system.
  • PAGA System Management: Set up, maintain, monitor, and ensure functionality and reliability of the Public Address and General Alarm (PAGA) system, including emergency communication.
  • Networking and Systems Support: Address all of our networking and systems requirements either remotely or at our premises, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and other networking basics, as well as familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Hardware and Peripheral Maintenance: Inspect LAN/WAN infrastructures, troubleshoot issues, and maintain hardware and peripheral devices to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements
  • Education: Diploma in Computer Sciences or relevant Electronics or Communications field.
  • Experience: A suitable combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Driver's License: Valid Class 5 Operator's License or equivalent.
  • Criminal Background Check: Clear Criminal Background Check.
  • Pre-Access Drug & Alcohol Test: Successfully passing a Pre-Access Drug & Alcohol Test is a condition of employment for access to our site, as well as maintaining the ability to successfully pass a drug and alcohol test for continued access to site.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SolarWinds System: Proficient in SolarWinds system, including SolarWinds High Availability for SolarWinds Orion, SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager DL1000, and SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor SL2000.
  • PAGA System: Relevant experience with PAGA System, preferably within Industronic (Germany).
  • Pro-Watch System: Competent in Pro-Watch by Honeywell building control system.
  • Networking and Systems: Experienced with SNMP Encoder, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and Genesis Genwatch3 TRBO Software.
  • HP and HPE Aruba Networks: Strong familiarity with HP and HPE Aruba Networks.
  • Structured Cabling: 1+ year experience in structured cabling is an asset.
  • Networking: 1+ year experience in Networking is an asset.
  • Networking Requirements: Excellent understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry.
  • Safe Work Practices: Ability to work safely in hazardous environments with knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards and safe work requirements (OH&S).
  • Hand and Power Tools: Knowledge of hand and power tools, test equipment, and design/fabrication techniques.
  • Telecommunication Codes and Standards: Knowledge of applicable telecommunication codes, standards, and regulations.

Physical Demands

The Telecommunication Systems Administrator must be able to spend the majority of the day sitting, walking, and/or standing. They may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods of time. They also may be required to carry equipment weighing up to 50lbs for short distances.
