Strategic Facilities and Real Estate Leader

Dynacare, a leading health and wellness solutions company, is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Facilities and Real Estate Leader to join its team. This exciting opportunity will involve providing strategic leadership, direction, and expertise in the real estate and management of facilities operations across a broad portfolio of sites across Canada.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in senior facilities management roles, preferably within multi-site lab operations, hospital, or pharmaceutical industries. They will possess broad knowledge of facilities management, including heating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems, equipment maintenance and repairs, environmental health and safety, custodial services, and construction.
Main Responsibilities
The Strategic Facilities and Real Estate Leader will be responsible for:
- Overseeing all aspects of facilities management across the Dynacare network, including labs, LHSCs, offices, warehouses, and office facilities across Canada.
- Contributing to strategic planning by evaluating and projecting future facility needs and proposing options to achieve them.
- Developing policies, procedures, and standards geared to promote effective operations of facility management.
- Preparing and managing departmental and capital budgets.
- Responsible to take a lead team role in identifying and managing policy changes that may affect the development approvals process at all government levels.
- Negotiating with landowners and/or agents the terms of acquisition.
- Working closely with finance department in coordinating deposit and closing funds and financial structure of transactions.
- Providing executive management with advice on the implications of real estate activities.
- Providing timely and accurate analysis of real estate trends and forecasts.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Broad knowledge of facilities management, including but not limited to; heating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems, including equipment maintenance and repairs, environmental health and safety, custodial services, and construction.
- 8+ years in a senior facilities management role, preferably within multi-site lab operations, hospital, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Vendor management experience ensuring high value contracts and services delivery.
- Negotiations and dispute resolution skills.
- Project management skills working across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to problem solve effectively and use good judgement in all decisions.
- Effective time management to deliver multiple priorities on time and required levels of quality.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting and collaborative relationships.
- Accredited industry-related designation in facilities management or project management.
- Proficiency in MS Office and (ideally) AutoCAD.
Benefits
The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $180,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including health and wellness benefits program, RRSP match benefits, and an employee stock purchase program.
