Marine Broker Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Broker Specialist to join our team at Aon. As a Marine Broker Specialist, you will be responsible for analyzing client-specific risk exposure and detailing coverage requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze client-specific risk exposure and detail coverage requirements
  • Prepare and present marketing proposals for renewals and new business
  • Negotiate with underwriters to establish the best terms and conditions with respect to premiums and coverage
  • Follow up with insurer to confirm terms of negotiated contract are met
  • Approve documentation for new contracts, policy changes, additions, deletions, and renewals
  • Establish contacts and cultivate relationships within the underwriting community in an effort to achieve the best premiums and coverage for Aon clients
  • Participate in client and prospect meetings
  • Collaborate with clients to develop coverage strategy and marketing initiatives for renewal and prospective business
  • Collaborate with sales producers to support growth strategies and specific prospecting activities
  • Collaborate to build national initiatives
  • Build productive working relationships with peers and higher-level professionals internally and externally to exchange information and make recommendations
  • Perform other related duties as required

About the Opportunity:

The successful candidate will be working alongside an experienced team of colleagues with a variety of backgrounds, ranging from account management, broking, claims advocacy, risk engineering, and specialty brokers to bring the best of Aon to our clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five (5) years of insurance and/or commercial marketing or broking experience required;
  • Proven negotiation and relationship building skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both verbally and written;
  • Client-focused and proven relationship building skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a key member of a team and independently with minimum supervision
  • Provincial Insurance License required;
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, including insurance courses and certifications (i.e., Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) / Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP)
