AIG is a global leader in commercial and personal insurance solutions, and we're seeking a talented Senior Underwriting Specialist, Ocean Marine to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you'll play a critical role in helping our customers manage risk and achieve their goals.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction to management, less senior specialists, producers, and claims adjusting colleagues
  • Accept, decline, or modify new and renewal submissions, identifying exposures and analyzing required to underwrite an account
  • Manage a book of business and contribute to the budget relative to regional goals
  • Establish new business production goals and submission flow relative to the book of business
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross-selling opportunities from brokers
  • Develop and implement pricing and negotiation strategy, terms & conditions, and deal structures with brokers and clients while maintaining the quality of the risk and underwriting strategy
  • Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients
  • Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity, and inclusion; attract and develop talent
  • Maintain and develop a national broker network

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency, or Brokerage experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of marine coverages, particularly ocean cargo lines of business, including product features, forms, regulatory environments, and risks
  • Advanced knowledge of ocean cargo coverages
  • Detail-oriented, critical thinking skills, decision-making based on level of authority, problem-solving, and competent use of analytical tools and technology
  • Effective in a dynamic environment, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, working at pace, and prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Communication skills (written and verbal), collaboration, building trust with a wide range of colleagues and clients
  • Financial understanding, appetite for learning about the industry, negotiating, and focused on profitability
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Market knowledge of cargo insurance landscape, including brokers and insurers
