About the Role
As a Senior Underwriter, Marine at Zurich Canada, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and underwriting new and renewal business. This position requires a deep understanding of marine underwriting principles and the ability to apply them within delegated authority levels on assignments of higher technical complexity.

Key Responsibilities
Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business to ensure accurate risk assessment and compliance with regulatory guidelines
Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and rating rules
Develop and maintain relationships with distributors in support of business retention and acquisition
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities to drive business growth
Qualify accounts to align with the organization's risk appetite and business opportunities
Cross-sell other lines of business to increase account product density
Engage in the target account process, managing a list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to the effective date
Update systems with broker/client visit details and account status promptly
Serve as the key Zurich contact for assigned target accounts
Measure exposures, analyze risks, quote, and set coverage terms
Service accounts, handle declinations and cancellations
Provide technical advice to help customers solve problems or improve their business

Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in claims or underwriting support, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and one year of experience in the underwriting or market-facing area, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and four years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area
Knowledge of line/s of business and legal and regulatory guidelines
Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Minimum four years of marine underwriting experience
Fluency in both spoken and written English is required, and fluency in French is also preferred

Compensation and Benefits
The estimated annual salary for this role is $100,000-$150,000, depending on experience, and we offer a comprehensive health benefits plan with varying levels of coverage to suit your specific needs and a competitive total compensation package.
