Healthcare Communications Specialist

At Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Communications Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our communication systems and providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Receive and process incoming calls, transferring or resolving as requested
- Monitor and respond to critical alarms and operate communication systems
- Provide clerical support, including data entry and morgue flow management
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure seamless communication and patient care
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance communication skills and knowledge
- Secondary School Graduation required
- Post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline, such as Office Administration – Health Services, preferred
- Medical Terminology course required or willingness to complete within one year of hire date
- 3 years of office experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, an asset
- Previous call centre experience, including on a Cisco Unified Attendant Console and Hill-Rom notification system, an asset
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Outlook, Office, Excel, and SharePoint, and ability to work comfortably in a computerized environment
- Prioritizes and multitasks effectively in a fast-paced environment with a high tolerance for task disruption
- Utilizes excellent customer service skills, remaining calm and composed while utilizing clear and concise verbal communications
- Demonstrates sound judgment and good problem-solving skills in prioritizing and handling of calls and alarms
