Job Description

We are seeking a Registered Dietitian (Pediatric) to join our team in Central East - Scarborough. As a Pediatric Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing and providing consultation, recommendations of dietetic interventions to pediatric clients in their homes using evidence-based best practices. This will involve coordinating delivery of care through ongoing communication with the client care team regarding plans and schedules for interventions, problem-solving in collaboration with the client and care team to create opportunities for more independence, and promoting VHA's core beliefs and values.

Key Areas of Accountability
  • Prepares client reports for health professionals to analyze for treatment.
  • Prepares plans and presentations for clients and their caregivers to provide thorough information on their diet as well as their goals.
  • Educates internal and external staff members about healthy eating and proper nutrition.
  • Supports areas of intervention including failure to thrive, dysphasia, feeding problems, enteral feeding, diabetes, cancer, GI disorders, and weight management.
  • Helps patients coming to terms with their illness and advises about special and time-specific diets.
  • Safely supports client care through the development of knowledge and skills in accordance with continuous quality improvement principles.
Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A member in good standing with the College of Dieticians of Ontario.
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience.
  • A valid Driver's License with access to a vehicle.
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature.
  • Self-driven with ability to work independently.
  • Skilled in caseload management.
  • Skilled at electronic documentation.
  • Able to provide virtual care.
