At Victoria General Hospital, we are seeking a dedicated Patient Care Associate to join our rehabilitation team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families.

Job Summary

This role involves providing direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a Therapist. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a healthcare setting and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care as delegated by the Therapist, including assistance with daily living activities, mobility, and transfers.
  • Conduct non-patient care activities such as administrative tasks, maintenance of patient records, and equipment preparation.
  • Assist with education and training programs for patients and staff.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting (preferably in patient care).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate in a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program (e.g., Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (in accordance with hospital policy).
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
Physical Demands

This role requires:

  • The ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods without resting.
  • Demonstrated safe and effective body mechanics while working with patients.
  • The capacity to bend, stretch, and lift while performing patient care duties.
  • Safe transfer of large and/or heavy patients with limited or no weight-bearing capabilities.
Working Conditions

This role may involve exposure to:

  • Infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids.
  • Toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical, and emotional stress.

You may encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients, visitors, or staff. Extended hours and varying shifts, including weekends, may be required.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience. Our estimated salary range is between $42,000 and $55,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location.
