About the Job

This exciting opportunity for a Sales Development Manager will be based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, covering a territory that includes Fredericton, Saint John, Edmundston, Bathurst, Miramichi, and the Acadian Peninsula. You will contribute to our success by maximizing business growth through exceptional customer service to chain and independent stores within your assigned territory.

You will be responsible for thorough planning & preparation, executing daily sales calls, building relationships, communicating store findings, driving incremental display space, daily utilization of all field level tools, and managing a team of merchandisers. Reporting to the District Supervisor, you will play a key role in driving corporate financial goals and ensuring the team achieves service model goals and key metrics.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Sell, Execute, Lead: Contribute to corporate financial goals by achieving service model goals and key metrics, manage expense, merchandiser, and credit budgets
  2. Execute with Excellence: Sell and present key accounts, trade marketing, promotions, point-of-sale material, and display vehicles
  3. Lead Your Team: Be an awesome leader to your team of merchandisers, motivate them to excel, hire, train, and coach your team
  4. Foster Growth: Foster relationships and drive growth in all assigned accounts within your territory
  5. Stay Informed: Use vision to find opportunities within new and existing accounts, be the eyes and ears of Carlton Cards at store-level, reporting on customer, consumer, and competitor activity
Your Required Skills and Competencies
  • 1-3 years outside sales or retail experience
  • University degree or college diploma in Business or related field (preferred)
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented, with a clear focus on high performance
  • Strong analytic and negotiation abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail and timely follow-up
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of the Greeting Card Industry (a plus)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Will require out-of-town and overnight travel, including air travel on smaller aircraft
