About the Role:

St.Amant is seeking a Counsellor to support the organization's commitment to Jordan's Principle. This principle aims to ensure that all children with disabilities have access to the health and social services they need in their community.

The Counsellor will provide services in accordance with the Mission and Values of St.Amant, policies and procedures of the assigned Program(s), external legislation and regulatory bodies, and all relevant professional standards of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and family/group dynamics counselling services to clients.
  • Work effectively with clients, caregivers, and families to supervise and teach others.
  • Develop, modify, and implement service and program goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Use service evaluation feedback to continually strengthen services.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in counselling, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Previous counselling experience, including individual work with children and adults.
  • Knowledge of community resources and how to make use of them.
  • Ability to identify high-risk situations and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, caregivers, and families, to supervise and teach others, and to work harmoniously with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within Indigenous communities/cultures.
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous culture and language.
  • Ability to travel, including to remote communities in Manitoba, where travel by small plane and/or boat may be required, in addition to overnight stays in or around a respective community.
