Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical Oncology department as a Nurse Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will provide holistic nursing care to oncology patients, including assessment, intervention, symptom management, and treatment coordination.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to oncology patients, performing duties such as patient assessment, reviewing patient and family history, and developing and implementing a nursing care plan specific to the patient's needs.
- Collaborate with patients, family, and multidisciplinary team members to develop treatment/care plans and modify them as necessary based on ongoing assessment.
- Administer medications, injections, blood products, and IV fluids as required by the care plan, monitoring patient reactions and changes in physical or mental status.
- Maintain patient records by collecting and documenting patient information and healthcare history, nursing assessment, telephone communications, symptom and side effect management, patient and family education, and care evaluations.
- Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated relevant clinical knowledge, ability to apply clinical knowledge in practice, and utilize clinical and information technology to enhance patient care.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written communication with patients, the public, and all levels of staff.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning about Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism, as well as reconciliation efforts in Canada.
- A competitive salary range of $93,000 - $117,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
