About the Freight Operations Supervisor Role

XPO is seeking a highly skilled Freight Operations Supervisor to lead and manage our freight operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our freight operations department, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and Supervise Freight Operations Team: Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations, including inbound/outbound processing, loading, unloading and processing of customer shipments.
  2. Develop and Implement Strategic Work Procedures: Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet the evolving demands of the department.
  3. Evaluate and Assign Driver Routes: Evaluate and assign driver routes to ensure efficient and effective delivery of customer shipments.
  4. Manage and Supervise Pickups and Deliveries: Manage and supervise pickups and deliveries in the local area to ensure timely and damage-free delivery of customer shipments.
  5. Ensure Production Goals are Met: Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and other administrative functions.
  6. Plan Hourly Employee Schedules: Plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and lower costs.
  7. Enforce Company Policies and Regulations: Enforce all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies, rules, regulations and laws.
  8. Implement XPO Workplace Policies and Procedures: Implement all applicable XPO workplace policies and procedures and enforce compliance with same.
  9. Ensure Customer Satisfaction: Ensure customer freight is delivered and picked up timely and damage free.
  10. Coach and Train Employees: Coach, train and develop employees on proper loading/unloading techniques and productivity, safety, efficiency and quality requirements.
  11. Effectively Direct a Team: Effectively direct a team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals.
  12. Make Recommendations: Make recommendations regarding hiring, suspension and firing.
  13. Develop and Present Action Plans: Develop and present action plans to improve load average and model compliance.
  14. Participate in Safety Committees: Participate in internal safety committees and engagement committees.
  15. Train Employees on Safety Rules: Train employees on safety rules and processes.
  16. Monitor and Maintain Housekeeping: Monitor and maintain housekeeping within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
  17. Conduct Daily Staff Meetings: Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate corporate messages and revisions to policies and procedures to all team members.
  18. Inspect Working Conditions: Inspect working conditions of tools and equipment needed for safe operation within the area and directs the correction of any improper or adverse condition that exists.
  19. Provide Instruction and Analysis: Provide instruction, analyses, suggestions and ideas for improvement of operations within the shift and the service center.
  20. Champion XPO Values: Act as a champion of our values, demonstrating them and holding your team to the same high standards.
Requirements
  1. Lift Objects of Various Shapes and Sizes: Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 75 lbs.
  2. Reach, Bend, Climb, Push, Pull, Twist, Squat and Kneel: Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel.
  3. Work in Inclement Weather: Work outside in inclement weather.
