Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Supervise Freight Operations: Oversee the daily operations of freight processing, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of customer shipments.
  • Develop and Implement Strategic Work Procedures: Create and implement effective work procedures to meet the evolving demands of the department.
  • Evaluate and Assign Driver Routes: Analyze and assign driver routes to optimize delivery times and reduce costs.
  • Manage and Supervise Pickups and Deliveries: Oversee the management of pickups and deliveries in the local area, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Supervise Hourly Staff: Supervise and direct hourly staff during various inbound, city, and/or outbound freight operations.
  • Ensure Production Goals are Met: Manage tonnage, payroll, and other administrative functions to ensure production goals are met.
  • Plan Employee Schedules: Plan and manage employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and reduce costs.
  • Enforce Company Policies and Regulations: Ensure compliance with all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC, and DOT policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Implement Workplace Policies and Procedures: Implement and enforce all applicable XPO workplace policies and procedures.
  • Coach and Develop Employees: Coach, train, and develop employees on proper loading/unloading techniques, productivity, safety, efficiency, and quality requirements.
  • Effectively Direct a Team: Direct a team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals.
  • Make Recommendations: Make recommendations regarding hiring, suspension, and firing.
  • Develop and Present Action Plans: Develop and present action plans to improve load average and model compliance.
  • Participate in Safety Committees: Participate in internal safety committees and engagement committees.
  • Train Employees on Safety Rules: Train employees on safety rules and processes.
  • Monitor and Maintain Housekeeping: Monitor and maintain housekeeping within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
  • Conduct Daily Staff Meetings: Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate corporate messages and revisions to policies and procedures to all team members.

  • Walk and Stand for Extended Periods: Walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
  • Work Outside in Inclement Weather: Work outside in inclement weather.
