About the Opportunity

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Research Focus: The successful candidate's research will align with and contribute to the department's research priorities, with a demonstrated expertise in the area of controls and mechatronics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a strong externally funded research program
  • Supervise thesis-based graduate students
  • Participate in service activities at the department level and beyond
  • Foster collaborations with government and industry, as well as with members of Dalhousie's research community

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline)
  • Eligibility and commitment to registration as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia

Preferred Research Areas:

  • Artificial intelligence/machine learning (development, application, integration)
  • Autonomous systems, with a focus on applications in marine/ocean engineering, energy systems, manufacturing, and biomechanical

Teaching Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be able to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering and advanced topics related to their research activities at the graduate level.
