Mental Health Clinician

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our Short-Term Assessment and Response Team (START) at Fraser Health Authority. As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive assessment, treatment, and referral coordination for adolescents and families in acute crisis.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Identify client and family needs, formulate treatment recommendations, and assess the need for psychiatric evaluation.
- Provide Therapeutic Clinical Counseling: Offer short-term individual and family therapy, utilizing various therapy models, and develop treatment plans as a case manager.
- Consult and Liaise with Community Resources: Facilitate an effective continuum of services between hospital and community, providing consultative and direct services to clients, families, and staff.
- Develop and Deliver In-Service Training: Collaborate with staff, plan and coordinate seminars, and conduct literature searches to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Network with Community Agencies: Develop relationships to enhance intra-agency cooperation and participate in ongoing social research as required.
- Complete Statistics and Documentation: Analyze and assist with interpretation of statistics, and complete case records, assessment reports, and other relevant documentation.
- Participate in Program and Community Resource Development: Respond to identified gaps in service and recognize client/family needs, and attend team meetings and multi-disciplinary meetings as required.
- Education and Experience: Master's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program, and two years of recent, related experience in adolescent crisis intervention in a mental health setting or hospital emergency department.
- Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of Crisis Intervention Theory, Systems Theory, and group and family therapy; ability to establish rapport with clients and families, and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
