Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Exhibit Fabricator to join our team at Stevens E3. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute their expertise in exhibit construction and repair.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing components for exhibits by following drawings and blueprints. They will also make fabrication suggestions as needed in the design phase to ensure accuracy between detail drawings and actual finished products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications
  • Interacting with pre-production to provide suggestions and feedback on construction methods
  • Planning the most efficient means to produce a product and executing the plan
  • Designing and constructing appropriate crating as necessary

Maintaining Supplies Inventory:

  • Checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; ordering and receiving supplies through purchasing
  • Maintaining equipment, blades, bits, etc., in proper working order

Preparing Layouts:

  • Using measuring tools to prepare layouts
  • Running CAD software to develop cutting templates

Constructing and Repairing Exhibits:

  • Following standards and procedures and making adjustments as necessary
  • Fabricating components in accordance with time-frames available
  • Laminating and finishing according to specifications
  • Using tools for measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling materials
  • Operating CNC router tables efficiently, effectively, and safely
  • Installing and dismantling exhibits

Ensuring Operation of Carpentry Equipment:

  • Completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment malfunctions
  • Evaluating new equipment and techniques and making recommendations to management
  • Safely operating CAD software and CNC tables

Maintaining a Safe and Clean Working Environment:

  • Complying with all rules and regulations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Completion of a three to four year apprenticeship program
  • A combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college, or industry courses in carpentry
  • A valid passport and ability to travel within Canada and the United States
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Ability to operate under significant time constraints and pressure
  • Computer savvy with CNC experience preferred

Salary:

$65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
