About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Worker 2 to join our team at Chapman House in Sechelt, BC. As a Mental Health Worker 2, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a long-term care setting with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness living in a licensed group home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in case planning with clients, interview clients to identify problems and needs, and work with clients to determine appropriate care.
  • Act as an advocate to assist clients in resolving conflicts and other problems with external organizations.
  • Implement care plans, observe residents' behavior and symptoms, provide feedback regarding residents' needs, performance, and progress.
  • Provide supportive counseling, demonstrations, behavioral management to assist with the development of physical, social, emotional, and life skills.

Sechelt is a charming seaside community located on the traditional territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation. It is approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver and is accessible by a 40-minute ferry trip followed by a 25-minute drive. Sechelt offers a unique lifestyle with a short walk or bike ride to work, home for lunch, and plenty of time for outdoor activities.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Community Social Service.
  • Two (2) years recent, related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel may require the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certificates.
