Executive Director Job Description

The Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is a dynamic organization dedicated to supporting the unique needs of military families. As the Executive Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the organization's operations, ensuring the effective implementation of its strategy, and empowering staff and volunteers to achieve strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Management: Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures, perform periodic reviews of database use and procedures, identify and evaluate risks to the MFRC's people, property, image, finances, or regulatory compliance, and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Human Resources: Initiate annual reviews of HR policies to ensure compliance with the Employment Standards Act, provide performance management, including coaching, course correction, and succession planning, act as an alternate to the contracted finance person for payroll administration, and identify and secure grants to fund site-specific services.
  • Community Engagement: Identify, cultivate, and steward community partners to support military families, develop and maintain effective relationships with local and regional Chains of Command, develop and execute marketing strategies with the contracted marketing person, and assess the need and feasibility of site-specific services and obtain Board approval for new services.
  • Strategic Planning: Facilitate the MFRC's short and long-term planning under the Board's direction, ensure staff responsibilities align with the overall MFRC strategic plan by setting and monitoring KPIs.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel within the province and country.
  • Understanding and respect for the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Bilingual English/French is an asset.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in strategic planning, fundraising, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
