Financial Reporting Manager with Control Expertise

The Financial Reporting Senior Manager is a critical role that plays a pivotal part in supporting control activities within the finance team. This individual works closely with team managers to ensure control design adequacy and ongoing effectiveness monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Manager Control Assessment to evaluate control effectiveness, identify gaps, and implement enhancements as required.
  • Monitoring Corrective Action Plans assigned to the department to ensure timely validation and closure.
  • Leadership in developing and implementing internal controls aligned with Citi's policies and standards.
  • Support during internal audits of Canada finance operations and related processes and controls, with a focus on managing outcomes.
  • Establishing relationships to detect, escalate, and mitigate emerging risks, with leadership or support roles in addressing those risks.
  • Management of projects assigned by the Country Finance Officer, including implementing emerging requirements and contributing to regional or global initiatives.
  • Maintenance of a list of IFRS accounting policies impacting Canada Franchise, with liaison responsibilities with Head Office for updates and implementations as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or equivalent experience required.
  • Professional accountant designation is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment for banks and broker/dealers is essential.
  • 8-10 years of work experience in audit, accounting, controls, and process management.
  • Strong knowledge of internal control principles.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop unique solutions to complex business issues.
  • Effective leadership skills, with the ability to influence and gain support for objectives.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of adapting to change and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with large-scale implementation at financial institutions.

Education Requirements:

  • CA, CPA
  • Bachelor's Degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
