Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled lawyer to join our team as a Head of Litigation. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, with a minimum of 20 years of experience working at a law firm that specializes in this area. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Supervision: Provide visionary leadership to the litigation department, overseeing the performance of junior and intermediate associate lawyers.
  • Case Management: Oversee the management of all litigation matters handled by the department, ensuring that cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and advocate for their legal needs.
  • Legal Research & Analysis: Stay abreast of developments in case law, legislation, and procedural rules relevant to the firm's litigation practice.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
  • 20+ years of experience working at a law firm that specializes in civil litigation;
  • In-depth knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Court of Justice Act;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines;
  • Strong client service skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.
