Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and skilled lawyer to join our team as a Head of Litigation. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, with a minimum of 20 years of experience working at a law firm that specializes in this area. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Supervision: Provide visionary leadership to the litigation department, overseeing the performance of junior and intermediate associate lawyers.
- Case Management: Oversee the management of all litigation matters handled by the department, ensuring that cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
- Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and advocate for their legal needs.
- Legal Research & Analysis: Stay abreast of developments in case law, legislation, and procedural rules relevant to the firm's litigation practice.
- Good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
- 20+ years of experience working at a law firm that specializes in civil litigation;
- In-depth knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Court of Justice Act;
- Strong leadership and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines;
- Strong client service skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.
