The Technology Delivery Head at the Bank of Montreal will be responsible for leading the bank's technology organization to achieve strategic goals. This individual will set the vision and strategy for technology, including architectural design, business capabilities, and measurable benchmarks for success.



Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and champion the technology strategy and roadmap, setting priorities and owning the technology vision across all technical functions.
  • Communicate technology strategy and progress to the organization and stakeholders.
  • Drive modernization and rationalization of systems and platforms to meet business needs.
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders to ensure projects can be capitalized and tracked.
  • Work closely with the Head of Product and other executive stakeholders to ensure technical enablers are developed.
  • Continues the broad technology transformation to accelerate business delivery and increase productivity.
  • Acts as the single point of contact for business leadership, facilitating dialogue with technology and business peers.
  • Ensures the reliable operation of technology infrastructure and systems.
  • Evaluates and identifies suitable technology platforms for delivering the company's service.
  • Assesses IT risks and designs, implements, and tests business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Implements policies and procedures to protect company IT assets and maintain data integrity, security, and privacy.
  • Directs procurement of technology and services from suppliers.
  • Develops, tracks, and controls annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Limits risks by setting up controls and contingency plans.
  • Works with third-party providers to ensure projects are executed as agreed.
  • Develops, fosters, and operationalizes new enterprise solutions and application delivery methodologies.
  • Drives technology and infrastructure capabilities for initiatives related to supported business functions.
  • Maintains a flexible governance structure that optimizes IT priorities and delivery speed.
  • Communicates risks associated with IT investments.
  • Optimizes cross-business opportunities to ensure a consistent employee experience.
  • Maintains a network of strategic relationships to identify current and emerging technologies, vendors, and partners.
  • Promotes and supports the bank's risk culture, including risk-taking accountability and open communication.
  • Complies with the bank's Risk Appetite framework and ensures risk-taking activities remain within limits.
  • Models driving simplicity and productivity enhancements for optimization across groups.
  • Activates the winning culture, aligned with purpose, and ignites engagement.
  • Fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion, creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
  • Develops leaders, plans for succession, and fosters a high-performance culture.
  • Drives top talent acquisition and retention, developing organizational capabilities for competitive advantage.


The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, with a master's degree in Computer Science or MBA preferred. They will have in-depth expertise in IT development and implementation, acquired through 15+ years of IT managerial experience in financial services.
