Community Resource Specialist

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The DDRC is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Resource Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support services team, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement personalized support plans to meet the unique needs of clients
  • Facilitate community inclusion and socialization opportunities to promote independence and confidence
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy to clients and their families
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to inform support plan adjustments
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of client interactions and progress
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment that values diversity and promotes excellence

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social work, disability studies, psychology)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (an asset)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel to various locations within Calgary and surrounding areas
  • Work in a variety of settings, including client homes and community facilities
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions
