The Role: Family and Youth Resource Network Specialist

This full-time position is part of our Calgary Family Resource Network, which provides programming and services to children and families. The successful candidate will work with formal and informal partners to deliver a comprehensive range of services that engage families and support healthy growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming environment for all families accessing the Hub.
  • Develop and implement child, family, and community activities to enhance protective factors and reduce risk.
  • Enhance family support networks, both formal and informal, for diverse populations.
  • Integrate different roles, such as coach, mentor, support, advocate, resource person, and facilitator, for clients and their families.
  • Support parental capacity by strengthening skills and knowledge in areas like sensitive parenting, ages and stages, and positive parenting practices.
  • Engage and build relationships with families, individuals, communities, schools, and other service providers.
  • Enhance social connections for children, families, and the community to decrease social isolation and build resiliency.
  • Support children and families through crises and safety planning with Children's Services as required.
  • Facilitate parenting and child development programs, such as Triple P Parenting and Circle of Security Parenting.
  • Integrate cultural and traditional ways of meeting needs into services, including ceremony, Circle meetings with Elders, and smudging.
  • Collect and report outcomes data, including maintaining accurate electronic client records and writing reports on progress and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services-related field (equivalencies considered).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with children and families.
  • Understanding of the child protection system and local resources.
  • Knowledge of Infant and Adult Mental Health and ability to structure programming accordingly.
  • Strong critical thinking, engagement, and assessment skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with outcome measurement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and Drivers Abstract.
  • Reliable vehicle for driving to meet family and client needs.
  • Working knowledge of Child Development, Ages & Stages, Positive Parenting, Parental Sensitivity, Systems Theory, and Attachment Theories, Grief and Loss, and Trauma-Informed Care an asset.
Reporting Relationship

This position directly reports to the Calgary Family Resource Network Program Manager.
