Job Overview

As a key member of the Spring Living Retirement Communities team, this Human Resources Business Partner will play a vital role in enhancing the well-being of employees and residents. Reporting directly to the Vice-President Operations, this individual will leverage their expertise in human resources to drive organizational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with residence management to address staffing, retention, compensation, talent management, and employee relations.
  • Coach and support executives and managers in effective organizational management.
  • Diagnose and implement solutions to optimize organizational efficiency.
  • Oversee recruitment for temporary and permanent hires.
  • Lead change management initiatives to foster improved working relationships.
  • Resolve complex employee relations issues through thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of local employment laws and immigration requirements.
  • Work closely with health and safety teams in each residence.
  • Provide performance management guidance to residence management.
  • Offer strategic HR direction and interpretation.
  • Develop effective communication plans for policy changes or program roll-outs.

Labour Relations Focus

  • Advise and assist management on collective agreement interpretation and application.
  • Ensure ongoing dialogue with union representatives to establish harmonious employer-union relations.
  • Manage grievances through investigations, file compilation, and arbitration hearings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, or equivalent experience within the healthcare/retirement industry.
  • 6-10 years' experience in human resources with healthcare/retirement industry experience.
  • Union experience and knowledge of bargaining required.
  • Business acumen and ability to interact with management and employees.
  • Flexible, proactive, and effective communication style.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Influencing skills and ability to lead change management efforts.
  • Thorough knowledge of provincial employment legislation.
  • Fluency in French and English (advanced English required).
