Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Business Partner to join our team at Spring Living Retirement Communities. As a key member of our HR team, you will play a critical role in supporting the well-being of our employees and residents.

Key Responsibilities

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will work closely with our residence management team to provide strategic HR guidance and support. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing coaching and support to executives and managers on HR-related matters
  • Diagnosing and implementing solutions to organizational efficiency problems
  • Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of local employment laws and immigration legal requirements
  • Working closely with health and safety teams in each residence
  • Providing day-to-day performance management advice to residence management
  • Providing strategic HR direction and interpretation
  • Developing effective communication plans for policy changes or program roll-outs

Regarding Labor Relations

  • Advising and assisting management on the interpretation and application of collective agreements and labor laws
  • Working closely with management to establish and maintain harmonious and constructive employer/union relations
  • Grievance management: conducting investigations, compiling files, and attending arbitration hearings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, or equivalent experience within the healthcare/retirement industry
  • 6 to 10 years' experience in human resources with some experience within the healthcare/retirement industry
  • Union experience and an understanding of bargaining
  • Business savvy and comfortable dealing with management as well as employees in all functional areas of the business regarding all aspects of HR
  • Assertive, flexible, and sensible working style with strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an open and collaborative work style
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization and lead change management efforts
  • Thorough knowledge of provincial employment legislation and fluency in spoken and written French and English
