Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at Steele Hotels. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of hotel staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining a high level of operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Management: Supervise and coordinate the activities of hotel staff, including scheduling, payroll, evaluations, recruitment, and discipline.
  • Guest Services: Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring that guest needs are met and front desk operations are running smoothly.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with guests, respond to questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Group Bookings: Manage group bookings for banquets and meetings, monitor numbers, and provide quotes as required.
  • Inventory Management: Order supplies, track inventory, and complete month-end counts and controls.
  • Quality Control: Perform routine spot checks of housekeeping inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Event Management: Supervise banquet room set-ups and tear-downs, and assist as required.
  • Availability: Be available to work flexible hours, including extended hours and overnight shifts as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks: Responsible for the administration of the WHSCC program, maintain organized files and records, and assist with budget preparation and reporting.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Tourism, or Hotel Management is an asset.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills, experience with Excel, budgeting, and reporting structures.
  • Attributes: Organized, able to multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment, knowledge of Firestar system is an asset.
