Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at Steele Hotels. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team, maintaining guest satisfaction, and ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel.

Main Responsibilities
  • Staff Management: Oversee staff relations, including scheduling, payroll, evaluations, recruitment, and discipline.
  • Guest Services: Maintain guest needs and front desk operations, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Communication: Communicate with guests regularly, addressing questions, concerns, and complaints as needed.
  • Group Bookings: Manage group bookings for banquets and meetings, monitoring numbers and providing quotes.
  • Inventory Management: Order supplies, track inventory, and complete month-end counts and controls.
  • Room Availability: Maintain knowledge of room availability at all times, for future and present dates, and monitor these dates regularly for inventory control purposes.
  • Quality Control: Perform routine spot checks of housekeeping inspections to ensure quality.
  • Event Support: Supervise banquet room set-ups and tear-downs and assist when required.
  • Availability: Be available to work flexible hours and extended hours if required, based on product and demand in the industry.
  • WHSCC Administration: Responsible for the administration of the WHSCC program.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized files and records.
  • Financial Management: Assist with preparing budgets, reports, monitoring revenues and expenses, and coordinating with accounts payable/receivable.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Tourism, or Hotel Management an asset.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Excel, budgeting, and reporting structures.
  • Adaptability: Organized with the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • System Knowledge: Knowledge of Firestar system an asset.
