Job Summary

This position will work in partnership with the four W'SANEC Health Directors and their respective communities to provide comprehensive healthcare services. The successful candidate will be part of a larger on-reserve team comprised of Nurse Practitioners, Primary Care Nurses, Mental Health and Addictions Counsellors, and Indigenous Wellness Supports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the W'SANEC Health Directors and their communities to develop and implement comprehensive accountability measures, oversight, and support for the general practitioner.
  • Provide healthcare services in the Tsawout First Nation and transition to the WSANEC clinic when ready, utilizing a hub and spoke model to provide services in the other three W'SANEC communities.
  • Preferred experience: demonstrated commitment to Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racist practice in healthcare, trauma-informed care, knowledge of Indigenous worldviews and Indigenous ways of understanding health and wellness, a relational approach to healthcare provision, and a strong desire to engage with and learn from Indigenous patients, families, and community members about their needs and how best to serve them.
  • After hours expectation: Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) for patients, including initiation, follow-up, and stabilization for OAT starts, and work collaboratively with MHSU, other primary care providers, the Saanich Peninsula Emergency Department, and community services to monitor clients' clinical status and response to treatment.
