About the Opportunity

The Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective processing of medical equipment and devices. Working under the direction of the MDR Manager, this individual will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide sterile and clean equipment, supplies, and instruments in accordance with established procedures and techniques.

The MDR Technician will be responsible for functioning in all areas of reprocessing, ensuring that the principles and practices guiding our work are integrated within the services provided. This includes the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships, and interprofessional collaboration.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual with the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 plus graduate of a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians' course
  • Minimum 9 months recent related experience (an asset)
  • Medical Terminology (an asset)
  • Knowledge of sterile supply processing equipment, such as Steam Sterilizer, Cart wash, Amps Washer/Sterilizer, Ultrasonic, etc.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the role of Medical Device Reprocessing in the delivery of patient care and understanding of how errors may affect medical treatment and cause financial loss
  • Demonstrates accountability
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Proven planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices, and organizational health
  • Manual and finger dexterity along with good visual and hearing perception in order to maintain safety and efficiency of operations
  • Knowledge of or previous experience in nursing, infection control, or microbiology
  • Competencies in other languages (an asset), French preferred

Where there are no applicants who have completed the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, consideration may be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or who commit to completing this program at their own expense within the first 12 months of employment (must submit proof of enrollment upon start).

MDR Techs may also be provided with training for reprocessing in the Endoscopy department and expected to provide coverage when necessary.

Hours
  • Permanent Full-Time Position; 75 Hours Biweekly
  • 7.5 hour shifts including evening, weekend, and holidays
  • On-call for the reprocessing of Endoscopes
  • Travel may be required
Compensation and Benefits

Medical Device Reprocessing Technician:
$24.68 hourly

Medical Device Reprocessing Technician in Training:
$20.13 hourly
