Director of Accounting Standards

RSM US LLP is seeking an experienced professional to lead our Accounting Standards Group (ASG). This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to thought leadership, consult on complex accounting and reporting matters, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
About the Role:
- Develop and maintain the Firm's interpretive accounting guidance and educational training courses, working closely with other members of the NPSG, audit, tax, and consulting practices.
- Participate in external accounting groups or committees to discuss and gather information about new and emerging accounting issues.
- Monitor and report on the standard-setting activities of the IASB and Canadian Accounting Standards Board, drafting comment letters in response to proposed accounting standards updates.
- Lead or co-lead educational training courses on subject matters within individual areas of expertise and participate in the Firm's quarterly accounting update webcasts.
- Consult with engagement teams, alliance firms, members of the NPSG, and industry technical leaders on complex accounting and financial reporting matters.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce, business administration, or comparable.
- Active CPA license.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in public accounting, financial reporting, or technical accounting capacity.
- National accounting role experience at a public accounting firm.
- Broad working knowledge of IFRS.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS 9.
- Experience developing and/or editing technical accounting publications and educational training courses.
- Excellent accounting research skills.
- Collaborative work style and exceptional client service attitude.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
- Willingness to develop new areas of subject matter expertise.
- Commitment to continuous development and sharing new ideas.
- Up to 10% travel for teaching, training programs, client service support, team meetings, and project work.
Compensation Package:
The salary range for this role is $114,500 - $212,000. A discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance may be eligible.
