Key Responsibilities
  • Stakeholder and Community Relations
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued. Examples of stakeholders include the Manitoba Employers' Council, government, and numerous others.
    • Community and Partnership Building: Nurture and create relationships with stakeholders delivering workplace safety and education programs, advancing a workplace safety culture and related programs supporting the organization's mission and values.
  • Public and Government Relations: Navigate the political landscape effectively, working closely with government and regulatory bodies. Advocate for the organization's interests and work together on legislative reviews and policy developments.
  • Board Relations and Reporting
    • Board Collaboration: Work with the Board Chair and Board of Directors to develop strategic goals, and initiatives that respond to identified needs, providing valuable advice and assistance.

    • Organizational Leadership: Navigate and lead organizational change initiatives, developing and implementing effective communication strategies, driving transformative and cultural change, while safeguarding the integrity and safety of systems and data.
    • Modernization: Lead and oversee a digital transformation initiative, ensuring that the organization's systems are up-to-date, secure, and efficient. Embrace emerging technologies to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Business and Financial Performance
    • Risk Management: Balance risk management with decisive leadership. Make informed decisions that protect the organization while advancing its mission.
    • Financial and Performance Management: Develop short and long-term capital and operating budgets and monitor performance against them. Ensure regular reviews of performance against organizational goals.
    • Innovative Product and Service Development: Develop innovative and renewed product and service offerings based on the needs of workers and employers. Establish a service delivery model and processes that achieve financial and customer service goals.
    • Operational Planning and Execution: Lead the development of annual divisional and functional operational plans aligned with the strategic plan.
Requirements
  • Board Experience: Demonstrated experience working with a Board of Directors, in an official reporting capacity.
  • Leadership: A proven track record of building cohesive, effective teams and partnerships internally and externally in a complex, dynamic stakeholder environment.
  • Community Representation: Able ambassador for the organization in the community, embodying the organization's values and mission.
  • Public and Private Sector: Experience working within both public and private sectors; strong understanding of public sector dynamics; demonstrated political acumen.
  • Unionized Environments: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships within a unionized environment.
  • Project Leadership: A track record of successfully leading organization-wide projects and change-management.
  • Technological Awareness: Awareness and knowledge of current and emerging technologies affecting organizations. Experience in overseeing significant digital transformations is highly desirable.
