Job Summary

The Association of Academic Museums & Galleries seeks a highly experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Director & CEO of the Textile Museum. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead a renowned institution in the field of textiles and cultural heritage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Textile Museum, ensuring its continued growth and success as a premier cultural institution.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with the museum's mission, vision, and values.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, funding partners, and the community.
  • Lead fundraising efforts to secure revenue growth and diversification, with a focus on major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundation support.
  • Oversee the museum's operations, including programming, venue management, finance, development, marketing, and communications.
  • Collaborate with the board of trustees to ensure effective governance and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the museum's financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the museum's efforts to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a focus on creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for all visitors and staff.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in a museum or cultural institution.
  • Proven track record of fundraising success and revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the museum and cultural sector, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing institutions in this field.
  • Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions that align with the museum's mission and vision.
  • Strong financial management skills, with the ability to develop and implement budgets and financial plans.
  • Commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a focus on creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for all visitors and staff.
