Job Summary:
The City of Windsor is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Kitchen Staff II. This role is responsible for providing exceptional food service to our residents and the public, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve meals to residents and the public in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment, including equipment and utensils.
- Assist with food preparation, including cooking, baking, and plating.
- Operate kitchen equipment, such as dishwashers, ovens, and refrigerators.
- Restock kitchen supplies and ingredients as needed.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service and high-quality food.
- Adhere to food safety and handling procedures to prevent contamination and foodborne illness.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Food Service Worker Certificate from a recognized community college or organization.
- Food Handlers Certificate from the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit or a recognized community college or organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience working with the elderly is desirable.
- Previous kitchen experience is considered an asset.
- Commitment to ongoing education, training, and professional development is considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Work in a smoke-free office environment.
